Favorite Brazilian Feijoada

The most typical Brazilian dish Feijoada is generally served on Saturdays at
hotels on buffet style and à la carte in restaurants. During Carnaval Season top
Schools of Samba perform at 5 star Hotels attracting hundreds of guests who enjoy
the ambiance and shows by fantastic bands and dancers dressed in colorful costumes.

The basic ingredient used is black beans cooked with a variety of beef and pork
meats, served separately each one mixed in a type of black beans soup. The secret
is to keep all meats warmed up, soft, and delicious. Feijoda also includes a separate
big pot of bubbling mashed and whole beans served with few spices on the side, to
be added individually. Among countless items: sliced sausages, fried wantans (pastéis)
white rice, steamed kale, pumpkin purée, fried bananas, and to complete: digestive
slices of fresh oranges. Also includes saladas, desserts, fruits and some add open bar
and have partnership with producers of beer, cachaça distilled typical drink (sugar cane
alcoholic beverage) a popular preference called caipirinha.

Feijoada light versions
Each chef has his personal creative touch. A variety of light feijoada versions is served
at three hotels in Rio de Janeiro. Helbert Moura Caesar Park Ipanemachef includes
broiled fish and chicken breast.

The most popular soccer team of Brazil is Flamengo Futebol Clube. Its president
Patricia Amorim contracted recently world celebrity player Ronaldinho Gaucho.
The club and their millions of fans are celebrating both Ronaldo´s inclusion on the
team as well as the title of Guanabara Cup Championship.

Club fans will be able to enjoy a Carnaval event in honor Flamengo team tonight

Schools of Samba of Rio participate with their samba at some
of the best hotels in Rio de Janeiro during Carnaval. A preview tasting
of Feijoada started last Saturday February 26 and will be back on March
5th with performance of excellent shows and buffets signed by outstanding
executive chefs.

its culinary complex where a great variety of attractions including a most fabulous

New Danusia Barbara Restaurant Guide







The 2011 edition of a most complete Rio de Janeiro Restaurant Guide will be
launched next Monday December 06 at Travessa bookshop - Leblon Shopping. It is
celebrating the silver jubilee with special prizes to be awarded to the best professionals
of Rio de Janeiro and their retaurants, bars, wine houses, bakeries, who were outstanding
during the year.

The guide with 367 pages written by journalist and food writer Danusia Barbara



is edited by Bem-Te-Vi. Suggested price: R$ 62.

The prize for the best Restaurant of the Year will be awarded to Laguiole, located at MAM-
the Museu de Arte Modern, which is part of the group of restaurant owned by Ana Maria
Torres and her son Marcelo Torres, who are direct importers of wine from different countries.

Several chefs who were constantly receiving prizes, now (since 2008) are named as hors-concours
among them chefs: Roland Villard, Claude Troisgros of Olympe, Roberta Sudbrack, Christophe
Lidy, and Danio Braga.

Brazilian Saint Patrick´s Day next June 12

Couples in Brazil do not celebrate their loving feelings as in the USA on Saint
Patrick´s Day. The specific date is June 12 called "Dia dos Namorados". This
year it can be celebrated previously on June 11 eating lunch before, during or
after the opening festivities of Fifa´s Soccer World Cup Championship in South
Africa.

Drinks and theme menus are going to be served at hotels, bars, and restaurants
most of them will be exibiting live on TV: games, opening and closing events
starting on Friday from 11 am on.




First games

Brazilian team plays on June 15 at 3:30 pm with North Korea and on June 20 at 3:30pm
with Ivory Coast and on June 25 at 11 am with Portugal.


Theme culinary

Typical food from the different countries are being served in Brazil while the Fifa games
are presented in South Africa. Menus include sophisticated dishes and even fast food.

Einstein Expo at a Rio de Janeiro Museum

The Einstein exposition is being presented at the National Historical Museum of Rio de
Janeiro (Museu Histórico Nacional do Rio de Janeiro - MHNRJ) since April 6 and until
June 6. It started in New York and has been visited by about 2 million people around
Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, Jerusalém, Birmingham, Dallas, Ottawa, Columbus,
Istambul, Cleveland, and São Paulo.

Originally projected by Dr. Michael M. Shara, who is a scientist & researcher of the
American Museum of Natural History (AMNH). The most complete expo includes
Albert Einstein´s theories, inventions, discoveries, images, his love life, and weddings.
It is promoted by the Sangari Institute with HQ in São Paulo, counting with the partnership
of the Museum of Science & Astronomy (MAST), the Albert Einstein Jewish Hospital of
Rio de Janeiro, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and the Botanical Garden of Rio de
Janeiro.

The exhibit shows the universe of Einstein revealed by his personal belongings like photos,
fac-símiles of letters he exchanged, manuscripts, plus a series of interactive installations.
A guided tour is offered for 90 minutes following a program of activities. Groups of students
must reserve their entrance in advance and they will be given education materials.

Albert Einstein in 1925 gave conferences in Rio de Janeiro. He stayed at the Gloria Hotel.
Using the hotel stationary he wrote an article in German: “Observations about the present
status of the light theory”. After many decades Eduardo Tapajós (the then owner of the
hotel) received a copy of the document.

Brazilian and South African flavors

The Othon chain of hotels is promoting until Saturday April 17th a Brazilian
culinary festival at the Emperors Palace Hotel in Johnannesburg, South
Africa under the command of chef Jean Yves Poirey who is the head chef
of the Othon corporation.

From May 6th to 9th the Rio Othon Palace Skylab restaurant will be presenting
a South African culinary festival with menu signed by the Emperors Palace chef.
Both events count with partnership by SAA (South African Airways).

Good news in São Conrado

The InterContinental Hotel in São Conrado has new staff imported from
São Paulo. TheFood & Beverage Manager is Carlos Horácio Ferraz who
invited Fernando Lima to perform as the hotel Executive Chef. Since April
1st Fernando has been implementing delicious dishes at the Aquarela
restaurant and promises innovations at the breakfast bufê including Brazilian
specialties inspired on the Northeastern region.

The Sunday brunch at the InterConti has new salads served in indivual portions
plus other delicacies. It includes bubbling Prosecco wine, two juices and fresh
green coconut water. The menu is served in buffet style with an open grill station
with variety of meats (humpsteak, filet mignon, chicken), fish (salmon, codfish and
a version of guefiltefish), cheese platter, assortment of bread, fruits, desserts, and
an additional pasta station, with a selection of sauces. Pizzas are served non stop.
In addition there is a variety special dessert made à la minute: banana foster which
is fried and served with caramel sauce prepared with brown sugar (in Portuguese:
açúcar mascavo).

Feijoada on Saturdays
Saturdays is Feijoada Day and the hotel buffet serves a health food selection of salads
with cereals, grilled meats, a variety of pizzas, a great number of Brazilian desserts
and a special coconut one to eat with a spoon.

Sandra Cardoso a culinary expert with chef Fernando Lima



At the Aquarela restaurant Sandra Cardoso tasted the Sunday Brunch and
met Chef Fernando Lima. She has an outside catering home service for
couples or small groups up to six and gives culinary lessons.

Sandra takes care not only of the dinner menu but as well as of the décor.
She gives cooking lessons to brides to be at her experimental kitchen that
includes a complete kit with chefs uniform, utensils, and instructions on how
to use them. Courses are during 3 months with classes once a week for 3
hours that can be individual or for groups up to eight ladies. They learn the
recipes that are prepared to be tasted at the end of the class. Also available
a course on Brazilian culinary with English consecutive translation. Courses
are given in different regions of Rio de Janeiro and other States.

Super Chef Volkmar Wendlinger



Born in Austria, Chef Volkmar Wendlinger adopted Rio de Janeiro where he
is wellknown for his superb contribution to the local travel trade development.

Next Wednesday April 14 Volkmar will be awarded important titles at
his restaurant Casa da Suíça. In recognition of his outstanding performance
he will be receiving: the title of Honorary Citizen of Rio de Janeiro, plus two
medals:Pedro Ernesto and Tiradentes and the Cristo Redentor Diploma.

Easter and Mother´s Day celebrations

Special occasions like Easter Sunday (next March 4th) and Mother´s
Day (May 9th), are perfect to celebrate by eating out at lunch time.

Hotels are the best bet to take the family for a most enjoyable great buffet
Brazilian style - complete including dessert - or to order à la carte.

Most of the hotels in Rio de Janeiro have fantastic ocean view. Also mentioned
here: two regular restaurants perfectly located offering delicious menus to eat
while appreciating unforgettable views. Chocolate is the main ingredient among a
variety of desserts in most restaurants.


Easter Sunday

Mediterranean buffet: Ipanema Caesar Park

Chef Helbert Moura presents a huge paella on Sundays among other
fish and seafood dishes including desserts and much more than one can
think of. The Galani restaurant is located on the top floor of the highest
hotel building in Ipanema. Its Feijoada, served on Saturdays is the most
famous in town.


Portuguese Menu at the Pestana Rio Atlântica

Chef Renato Vicente offers several recipes of the Norwegian codfish at the
Cais da Ribeira lobby restaurant. Tradicional Portuguese desserts and lots
of chocolate cakes. At the end of the event clients run for a free dinner for
two at the same restaurant.


Sheraton Rio and Sheraton Barra

A great variety of options are offered at both hotels that are part of the Starwood
chain. Their executive chefs are Brazilians with recognized international experience.

Chef Rogerio Siqueira presents at the Sheraton Rio Hotel & Resort a perfect selection
of dishes exposed in different stations.

Chef José Ribeiro elaborated a special menu for the Sheraton Barra Hotel & Suites.
The buffet is very appreciated by local community, visitors and hotel guests.

In São Paulo the Sheraton WTC is located at the D&D Shopping. Celyta Jackson,
for a long time acted at the New York Plaza. Now she is the director of the São Paulo
Sheraton WTC boutique segment occupying three floors - with its sophisticated Club A.

Roland Villard is Brazil Sofitel chain executive chef. The Atlantis and Le Pre Catelan
count with the chef chocolatier Dominque Guerin specialized in chocolate desserts.

Soon it will complete a total of 11 properties located in different spots of Rio de Janeiro.

Chef Eduardo included oysters at the Windsor Barra buffet. Children are invited to enjoy
a recreation program, and they can learn how to prepare their own chocolate goodies to

buffet. The Excelsior includes a japanese culinary selection. The Windsor Florida located
in Flamengo offers a great buffet and attracts clients from different regions of Rio.

Two unforgettable Restaurants in Rio de Janeiro

Albamar near Praça XV

Chef Luiz Incao acted at the Sheraton Rio and more recently at the Copacabana Palace
for 17 years. Now he commands the Albamar a historical site specialized in fish dishes
and seafod. Incao includes Brazilian, Portuguese, and French recipes. Bouillabesse and
cassoulet are among the French dishes and the Brazilian "caldeirada" a fish mix is among
the favorite ones. Albamar has been renovated and offers catering services for private events.

Restaurant & Bar Urca
Usually in special occasions the Armando Gomes family (three generations) offer gifts for
their clients. Those who eat lunch on Easter Sunday will be given free chocolate in the format
of an egg. Bar Urca is known as the best beach front point in Rio de Janeiro. It specializes in
Brazilian & Portuguese culinary. Dish portions are individual or for two - in this case: enough for
three or more. With a fabulous view, the bar occupies the ground floor and the restaurant is on
the top floor offering comfort and a pleasant atmosphere. Only on few occasions, like next April
4th, the Codfish Gomes style is served. Named after the founder who will soon celebrate 94 years

A food & wine festival is going to be held in different hotels in Rio de Janeiro and
São Paulo, from March 22nd to 29th.

The tasting of Argentinian flavors include wines produced in Mendoza.The promotional
project is signed by the chain of boutique hotels Ten Rivers & Ten Lakes (TR&TL) in
partnership with Hotel Gourmet Guide on line by Hôtelier News and with the support
of Wines of Argentina (WofA), which represents over 170 wine producers.

Menus were freely created by hotels executive chefs according to their specialties,
not necessarily following Argentinian recipes. The opening event for guests in Rio
de Janeiro will be presented by French chef Jean Yves Poirey of the Othon chain
of hotels working together with chef Mateus Vilas Boas of the Bistrot du Leme.
Chef Helbert Moura, of the Caesar Park Ipanema specializes in Brazilian culinary
dishes. At the Sheraton Rio the talented executive chef is Rogerio Siqueira, born in
São Paulo and a great number of top executives were born in Argentina, among
them: Marcelo Moretti who is the general manager; Hernán Viva, F&B director; and
Dolores Piñeiro, sales manager. Other chefs presenting their menus are: Marcos
Antonio of the Porto Bay Rio Internacional; Alessandro Branco elaborated Asian
culinary dishes for the Ipanema Plaza; and chef Damien signes the menu of the
Santa Teresa hotel.

Chefs of hotels in São Paulo participating of the events are: Christophe Besse of
the All Seasons restaurant located at the Golden Tulip Paulista Plaza. He is the
author of a fantastic cookery book . Besse is the F&B consultant for Golden Tulip
chain in Rio, including the la Branche restaurant in Copacabana Beach. Other
hotels in São Paulo that joined the event : Hilton, InterContinental, Sofitel, L´Hotel
Porto Bay, Meliá Jardim Europa, Pousada Zilah, Paulista Plaza e Radisson Faria
Lima.

Peter Kutuchian of the Hotel Gourmet Guide mentioned that the hotels will serve
exclusive wines which are not for sale for the general public at shops or super
markets. A famtour to Mendoza organized by Peter who invited F&B hotels´
directors.

two restaurants, one bar and the Taiyou Japanese restaurant (meaning Sun)

Guests at the Turkish Food Festival

The successful food festival of Turkey held at the Sheraton Hotel & Resort
was attended by Luiz Antonio Roth former Director of the hotel with his wife

Delicacies among dishes served for dinner

Tasting of the turkish culinary starts with a total of 10 different entries:

For the choice of one main dish chef Zeki offers 8 suggestions among roasted
meat, chicken and meat kebab, steamed fish Blacksea style, stuffed squid,
braised lamb meat cut in cube format, grilled veal with mashed eggplant, and
meat balls fried as mini hamburguers, with rice and onions, plus crispy lettuce,
and in a tomato salad.



Four different desserts are served in tasting style including the traditional baklava,
pudding flavored as bubble gum, apricot stuffed with nuts, white pudding with red
fruit gelly. The flower artistically designed on the dish is also edible.



Reservation is a must. Dinner from 7:30 pm to midnight. Individual cost: R$89 plus 10%
service tax. The festival is a 15 course meal including 1 bottle of wine for 2, water and
soft drinks (with refills), free valet parking during 3 hours (ticket obtained from Maître D).
Tarot is available for personal consultation at the Mirador Restaurant foyer (R$15 per person).
DJ presents Turkish songs.

Also available handicrafts with the blue eye in several formats to use as a piece of décor and
as bracelets, earings, necklaces, colorful tablecloths and elegant embroidered dresses made

Marcelo Massa winner of the Santos Rio Sailing Championship

Under the command of sailboat LOYAL / RED NOSE / POLY JOHN
Marcelo Massa is the champion of Santos-Rio Sailing competition.
It took 29 hours and 14 minutes facing in 200 miles wind difficulties
until getting to the Rio de Janeiro Yacht Club located at the foot of
Sugar Loaf Mountain in Urca.



Marcelo Massa was previously the champion of the International Sailing
Competition held at ilha bela island, and he was also winner of the previous
Sailing Championship held in São Paulo.

most important Brazilian Sailing Circuit (being held until today, November

Club was in honor of yachtsman Sir Robin Knox-Johnston.

Sir Robin Knox-Johnston (born March 17th, 1939) was the
first person to sail single handed and non-stop around the
world between June 14th, 1968 and April 22nd , 1969.

Guests attending the VIP Sailing Day reception were invited
to sail around Guanabara Bay for about two hours. Sir Robin
embarked on a sail boat under the command of Torben Grael,
who is an Olympic Brazilian champion awarded with a great
number of gold medals. Lars Grael, Torben´s brother among
other relatives also participate of sailing competitions and are
winners of medals.


The VIP Sailing Day event was hosted by Vice Commodre Carlos
Alberto Pereira de Oliveira, next to Comodore Hélio Lyra de Aquino,
with Torben Grael, Brazilian Olympic Champion and the visiting British

Hans Donner top designer who invented Timension, creator of TV Globo logo - among many
others for different companies, events, and products, lines of furniture - celebrated his birthday
on Friday July 31st. His wife and inspiring muse Valeria Valenssa programmed a surprise
party inviting relatives and friends for a superb cocktail lunch at the traditional Albamar
restaurant, located at Praça XV downtown Rio de Janeiro. Menu was signed by the new
owner and chef Luiz Incao, former Copacabana Palace and Sheraton Rio Hotel & Resort
executive chef. The party went on for six hours and was very much appreciated by all
guests: family members and friends.

This is the French year in Brasil and the Sheraton Rio promotes an authentic food festival
served à la carte at the Mirador restaurant, with live music. The menu is signed by Sheraton

A Taste of India at Sheraton Barra

A typical event based on the culture of India will take place at

José Ribeiro, Brazilian Executive Chef with Sintia Gomes the Sheraton Barra General Manager and
Clay Sawyer, Food & Beverage Manager and Malacacheta Duo musicians who perform at the hotel
on Saturdays at the Feijoada and other events at the Terral Restaurant, and by the pool & leisure area.



Clay Sawyer the Food & Beverage Manager was inspired on the culinary experience of the executive
chef José Ribeiro in Great Britain. For about 15 years José lived in London learning and practicing the
culinary art of different origins. A great number of descendents from India live in the mainland and
influenced by their eating preferences many restaurants were successful in hiring native experts to
include a variety of dishes including spicy delicacies on their menus.

It is the first time that a hotel in Rio de Janeiro offers a complete program based on the flavors of India
its culture, dance, music, and décor. Different musical styles will be presented as selected by DJ
Sergio Afonso.

The Atlantic ballroom will be enhanced by a colorful décor making the ambiance transformed into a
representative piece of India.

Austrian Food Festival and Art Exhibit at Casa da Suíça, RJ

Chef Volkmar Wendlinger and graphic designer Hans Donner are presenting
Brasilidade: an art exhibit combined with a typical Austrian culinary festival. During
the event, being held at Casa da Suíça until Sunday March 29, dishes being served
were portrayed and are shown with a series of outstanding graphic designs by Hans,
a world famous local resident.

Volkmar, born in Austria moved to Brazil to continue his career in Copacabana
at the Ouro Verde hotel. Hans was born in Germany and raised since the age of
two in Austria, his mother´s homeland. A couple of years after graduating as
designer Hans also moved Copacabana and started an outstanding career after
creating TV Globo´s logo.

Art Exhibit & Food Festival Menu

The public is invited for attend the exhibit, free of charge, from noon until 8 pm.
Food festival and regular multinational menus are served à la carte. Austrian
typical dishes are offered as a four course meal and charge is R$83, per person.
It includes griesnockerln suppe; hering im element; one among two options:
mousseverkrustetes seezungen filet or lungenbraten “Erzherzog Johann”; and as
dessert pfirsiche und sein parfait glacé. Another option is for individual orders of
one or more dishes. Soups and first dishes cost from R$19,90 up to R$45,50.
Main dishes run from R$52 to R$57, and each one of four desserts cost R$16.
The most famous Austrian dessert is artistically presented in the form of cubes
and each one of them is topped with a letter forming its name: S A C H E R.
Attention when ordering the Salzburg soufflé, it is more than enough to share
among four.

Peach with its parfait glacé is offered as an individual portion.

Sheraton Rio Promotes the 2009 Carnaval with fun Events

Feijoada Carioca and Food Festivals served in buffet style

A most complete program of attractive events is being offered by the Sheraton Rio
Hotel & Resorts starting Saturday February 21st with its twice awarded Feijoada
Carioca
. It maintains the title of the best Feijoada among the Rio de Janeiro hotels
as voted on line by Gula Magazine readers for the past two years (2007 & 2008) and
thanks to the creativity of the Executive Chef Rogerio Siqueira. As part of the
Carnaval Feijoada delicious acarajés will be prepared live by an authentic Baiana. The
shrimp delicacy will also be served à la carte in portions for individual orders by guests
at the swimming pool & resort area and also by calling the hotel room service extension.
The Feijoada buffet includes a section of light feijoada of black beans prepared with
vegetables, plus roasted chicken breast among other dishes.


Live Carnaval Music

Beija Flor musicians from Nilópolis will be performing live during Carnaval on Saturday
February 21st event by the pool area, overlooking a fantastic view of the ocean and of
Ipanema & Leblon beaches. Hernán Viva Food & Beverage Director informs
that all the Carnaval events are offered for the hotel guests, Rio de Janeiro residents
and visitors in general. In case of bad weather the Feijoada Carioca will be served at
the Mirador Restaurant on the 5th floor.

Saturday February 14th at regular cost and to return on February 21st to watch
a Carnaval sample of an authentic samba show. The traditional black beans dish

a most pleasant atmosphere. It shows an elegant display with different cuts of meats
on bubling pots with black beans and more pans with all the traditional ingredients

American visiting Chef tastes Cæsar Park Feijoada

Chef Diana Temple offers creative catering services

Chef Diana Temple is the owner and head chef of a creative catering in Malibu
is wellknown by Hollywood movie industry celebrities. She cooks for the most
sophisticated wedding parties and for corporate events. She left her property for
a brief visit to Rio de Janeiro to learn about the Brazilian culinary as a research
to include dishes on her diversified menu, for her site and to be part of a new book.
Diana has previously been in Bali for cooking classes and enriched her vegetarian
menu with more unusual options.

In Rio the American chef enjoyed tasting the Cæsar Park Feijoada, where she met
the hotel executive chef Helbert Moura, a Brazilian born in Minas Gerais.

some recipes of local typical dishes. She was surprised to observe that Chef Helbert
includes tabule and guacamole as part of the Feijoada salad station. She admired the

Delicious Feijoada served at the Cæsar Park Hotel Ipanema

The Brazilian most typical dish has black beans as one of its main
ingredients. It is usually served at hotels and restaurants on Saturdays
at lunch time.

Presently Helbert Moura, born in Belo Horizonte, capital of Minas Gerais,

Stella Caymmi and Evandro Teixeira holding her new book



Stellinha launched her second book last week in honor of her late
grandfather: Caymmi and the Bossa Nova for his 70 years of music.
He was 94 when passed away a couple of weeks ago.

Stella is also the author of a previous book Dorival Caymmi: o Mar e
o Tempo
about her grandfather s personal life, outstanding and
successful career as a composer, musician, and singer.

Among many photos the book shows Caymmi holding a guitar with the
ocean on the background
taken by photographer Evandro Teixeira
which occupies two full pages. That image inspired the local Government to
start arrengements for providing a Statue just like that photo of Dorival
Caymmi
to be part of Copacabana Beach Posto Seis scenarium.

Many friends of Nana, Dory and Danilo, of the Caymmi´s family attended the launching
of Stella´s new book.

Dory and Helena Caymmi, will soon return to their home in Los Angeles.



One of the founders of Bossa Nova Carlos Lyra and wife Kate participated of
the event held at Mistura Fina, in Ipanema as well as Paulo Jobim.

Paulinho is the son of Antonio Carlos Brasileiro Jobim, also known as Tom Jobim.
Among many songs Tom wrote with Vinicius de Moraes the world famous Bossa
Nova song The Girl from Ipanema.

Mexican Independence Day was celebrated on a preview dinner with the
presence of Salvador Ariola, Consul General in São Paulo.
The event hosted at Cæsar Park was the kicking off the Food
Festival on its fourth edition.

Menu signed by Rafael Castro Martinez, a visiting chef who specializes
in modern Mexican culinary at the Fiesta Americana Veracruz Hotel, Golf of
Mexico, of Posada Chain.

Prime Minister of Norway visits Brazil

Jens Stoltenberg, the Norway Prime Minister is being honored
next Monday at the Rio de Janeiro Yacht Club at a business lunch meeting,
with Sergio Cabral State Governor, importers, exporters, and members of the
Norwegian Fishing Council (ConselhoNorueguês da Pesca).

This event being promoted in Brazil is entitled Tradition, Trade, and Technology.
It has the purpose of an integration between Brazilian and Norwegian government
officials. One of the participants is Kari Gulbrandsen, Director of the Norwegian
Seafood Export Council and Innovation. The Council is involved with the promotion
of Norwegian Seafood products worldwide and Brazil represents the world s major
consumer market in volume for Norwegian Codfish. The history of the Norwegian
codfish which Brazilians call “bacalhau”, is over 160 years and its market is still
in solid growth.


Guests will taste new codfish recipes by Dadá from Bahia



The creative recipes made with Norwegian Codfish Bacalhau da Noruega
include moqueca (a type of stew usually prepared with fish or seafood), a
combination of codfish with spaghetti, and a mouth watering codfish farofa.



All the recipes with the Norwegian Codfish created by the Brazilian chef are published
in the book – “Bacalhau da Noruega faz a festa com segredos da Dadá” which will be
distributed during the event. Dadá who is well known for her charisma and
captivating smile.

Menu to be served at the business lunch includes:

Caldo (Norwegian Codfish broth) and
bolinhos de bacalhau (a typical Brazilian appetizer
made with Norwegian Codfish, originated in Portugal)

Main dishes:

Moqueca de Bacalhau da Noruega com mamão verde ou chuchu
Norwegian Codfish simmered in pepper and oil with green papaya or chayote

Farofa de Bacalhau da Noruega à baiana
a side dish made with mandioc flower and Norwegian Codfish
a typical dish from Bahia, Northeast of Brazil

Bar Arts at the JW Marriott RJ

An organic drink is the newest concept called Bar Arts to be served among
a great variety of cocktails being launched next Tuesday September16th at the
carioca Marriott Hotel.



More than 250 exotic drinks were created as oriented by Dale DeGroff
who signed the project developed by Marriott International to be implemented
at a great number of hotels and resorts. Careful attention is given to the quality of
ingredients to achieve the objective of serving well balanced and tasteful drinks
as prepared with style and charm by individual barman.

Political Meeting at the Copacabana Palace



Three of the candidates running for Mayor of Rio de Janeiro will present their
proposed programs at the Copacabana Palace Hotel at 4 pm today Sept.10.

This is a a brief translated note based on the announcement inserted yesterday
on the website edition of Monitor Mercantil newspaper.



The original note appears on today s printed editions distributed in Rio de Janeiro,
São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, and Brasília, the Federal Capital.

Ellections
The Travel Trade Associations of Rio de Janeiro promote a meeting with the
top three candidates to Mayor of Rio de Janeiro: Eduardo Paes, Jandira Feghali
and Marcelo Crivella. The ranking is according to a research as published by
Data Folha, dated of August 23.

Rio de Janeiro chapter of ABIH, the Brazilian Hotel Industry Association
promotes the event in partnership with ABAV/RJ, ABBTUR, ABEOC/RJ &
ABRASEL
.

Candidates will present their individual priority projects focusing tourism.
At the end they will be submitted to questions posed by the audience of top
executives and professionals of the Travel Trade Business. It is the first time
that the five Institutions participate of a such meeting.

German Culinary at Landhaus Restaurant

Erika Meiswinkel promotes next September 7th, a new German typical menu
for lunch with live music that is also presented on the first Sunday of each month. The
former farmhouse is now a restaurant with flower gardens. Rooms are decorated
with objects and paintings similar to the ones used in German residences.

A special option on the à la carte menu is offered next September 7: Nürnberg sausage
served with potatoes salad and sauerkroute with imported beer such as Weihenstephan
or Krombacher Pils 500ml. A portion for two has the promotion price of R$ 55.

German style cold cuts used by Erika on her recipes are manufactured by Salsicharia Klaus,
criated by Klaus Dieterle and now under the management of Heloisa and son Alex Dieterle.

Siree Bunnag, the Royal Ambassador of Thailand and

They participated of the Thai Food Festival being held by the Caesar Park Hotel
